Internet Drafts are draft documents valid for a maximum of six months. Internet Drafts may be updated, replaced, or obsoleted by other documents at any time. It is not appropriate to use Internet Drafts as reference material or to cite them other than as a "working draft" or "work in progress". Abstract This document provides a general description of issues related to the definition, configuration and management of services enabled by the differentiated services architecture [DSARCH]. This document should be read along with its companion documents, the differentiated services architecture [DSARCH] and the definition of the DS field [DSHEAD]. A glossary of specialist terms used may be found in [DSARCH].

A Differentiated Pricing Framework for Improving the Performance of the Elastic Traffics in Data Networks

Rate allocation has become a demanding task in data networks as diversity in users and traffics proliferate. Most commonly used algorithm in end hosts is TCP. This is a loss based scheme therefore it exhibits oscillatory behavior which reduces network performance. Moreover, since the price for all sessions is based on the aggregate throughput, losses that are caused by TCP affect other sessions...

Wireless Sensor Networks for Water Management that supports Differentiated Services

The goal of this paper is to make an architecture framework for wireless sensor networks that is used for water management application. The proposed framework focuses on offering differentiated services for sensor nodes. Differentiated services are supported based on the information passed from the sensor node to differentiated service motes. Three differentiated services are offered gold, silv...

Differentiated Services framework

Voice over IP and other jitter sensitive applications have raised the demand for Quality of Service guarantees in the Internet. The traffic must be classified and prioritized according to application specific needs. The Differentiated Services framework provides means for stateless low-cost classification. This paper summarizes the IETF's DiffServ Internet Draft.

Internet network design for quality of service guarantee using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA)

By developing the new services such as VoIP and Videoconference, using a mechanism is needed to support the quality of service of the application programs. Different models have been presented to guarantee the quality of service. Among these, the differentiated services can be mentioned which was presented by IETF. In the architecture of the differentiated services, no admission control mechani...

A Self-healing Web Server Using Differentiated Services

Web-based portals are a convenient and effective mechanism for integrating information from a wide variety of sources, including Web services. However, since availability and performance of Web services cannot be guaranteed, availability of information and overall performance of a portal can vary. In this paper, we describe a framework for developing an autonomic self-healing portal system that...

Internet QoS: the Big Picture

In this paper we present a framework for the emerging Internet Quality of Service (QoS). All the important components of this framework, i.e., Integrated Services, RSVP, Differentiated Services, Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Constraint Based Routing are covered. We describe what Integrated Services and Differentiated Services are, how they can be implemented, and the problems they h...
